About the event
Join us on Monday, June 24th for two great events wrapped into one!
6pm: Foster & Adoptive Parent Information Session, followed by Safe Space Training presented by Georgia Division of Family & Children Services and PFLAG Rome
If you have ever considered becoming a foster or adoptive parent, we’d love to see you there! We need foster parents of all demographics and especially foster parents who are interested in fostering LGBTQ+ kids, teenagers, and sibling groups. Come find out more information and get your questions answered with no obligation. Then, stick around for our PFLAG Rome Safe Space Training! We’ll walk through all the basics of how to be an LGBTQ+ ally and answer any questions you might have but don’t know who to ask!
Did you know that 1 in 3 kids in foster care are LGBTQ+? LGBTQ+ youth report higher rates of maltreatment, more frequent placement disruptions, and a higher likelihood of being placed in congregate care settings.*
84% of LGBTQ+ adults surveyed would consider adoption or foster care in the future.*
However, only 14% of LGBTQ+ adults surveyed knew of an LGBTQ+ inclusive/affirming agency near them.*
